Description

WHAT: Is this book about? Some amusing and other downright scary aviation experiences, replete with how NOT to fly airplanes.

WHEN: Dating from WWII (specifically D-Day 6-6-1944) to “The Miracle on the Hudson” (1-15-2009).

WHERE: Europe, Idaho, Louisiana, Texas, and coast to coast and border to border, in no particular order.

WHO: The author, my friends and instructors (not necessarily synonymous), Charlie Hillard, Jimmy Franklin, Dave Hoover, (all deceased), and others too numerous to mention.

WHY: Many of the incidents, accidents, or anecdotes can only be explained by resorting to the definition of IDIOT, hence the title of this book.

DEFINITION: IDIOT–a very foolish person. Not one suffering from a physiological condition.

Dennis Breen spent nearly three decades in the air making every mistake in the book, mostly as a plane finance and repossession guy. When staring out of a hotel room near Shreveport Airport, reminiscing on his experiences, he decided to commemorate his many mistakes to print in the hopes that there will be less idiots in the cockpit in the future–and to maybe inspire a new generation. After all, if he can be a successful pilot, anyone can!
